(i) Stellate and lepidote (scaly) hairs on the young parts ; mucilaginous juice present .

(ii) Stipulate, stipules free.
সোপপত্রিক, উপপত্র মুক্ত ।
(iii) Flower sometimes subtended by epicalyx at the base.

(i) Plants aromatic herb or shrub.
উদ্ভিদ গন্ধযুক্ত বীরুৎ বা গুল্ম ।
(ii) Stems quadrangular, stem hairs glandular.
কান্ড চতুঃকোণ, গ্রন্থিযুক্ত রোম বিশিষ্ট।
(iii) Leaves simple,opposite-decussate , exstipulate .
পাতা সরল , প্রতিমুখ- তির্যকপন্ন, অনুপপত্রী ।
(iv) Infloresences mostly verticillaster .
অধিকাংশ পুষ্পবিন্যাস ভার্টিসিলেস্টার ।
(v)Corolla bilabiate ; stamens 4 , epipetalous , didynamous .
দলমন্ডল দ্বি-উষ্ঠাকার; স্টেমেন ৪ টি, দললগ্ন , দীর্ঘ-দ্বি-দ্বয়ী ।
(vi) Carpels 2,syncarpous, style gynobasic.

Diagnostic characters of Brassicaceae:
(i) Plants herbs with hairs & watery sap.
উদ্ভিদ বীরুৎ, রোম বিশিষ্ট, জলীয় রসযুক্ত ।
(ii)Leaves radical & cauline,exstiulate .
পাতা রেডিকেল ও কলাইন,অনুপপত্রী।
(iii) Sepals 4 (2+2) ,in two dimerous whorls.
বৃত্যা্্শ ৪ টি (২+২), দুটি আবর্তে সজ্জিত।
(iv) Petals 4 , cruciform.
পাপড়ি ৪ টি, ক্রুশাকার ।
(v) Stamens 6 (2+4) , tetradynamous .

(vi) False replum present in ovary , fruit siliqua or silicula.

* Radical = leaves borne on very reduced underground stem.
*Cauline= leaves borne on the main stem only.

General characters of Papilionaceae:
Plants: Herbs, shrubs, climbers ( Vicia, Lathyrus , Pisum)or trees (Rabinia, Laburnum, Erythrina,Dalbergia ,etc.), terestrial ,rarely aquatic (Aeschynomene aspera ).

Leaves: Simple(in some sp.of Crotalaria) or compound, alternate, pinnate, stipulate; leaf base have pulvinus, generally imparipinnate but paripinnate in Abrus.
পত্র সরল,(Crotalariaএর কয়েক প্রজাতি ) বা যৌগিক , একান্তর, পক্ষল , সোপপত্রিক, পত্রমূল পালভিনাস বিশিষ্ট , সাধারণত সচূড় , কিন্তু Abrus এ অচূড় ।
Inflorescence:Raceme,panicles (Dalbergia) or dense axillary heads (Trifolium) or solitary (in some sp. of Lathyrus ).
পুষ্পবিন্যাস : রেসিম, পেনিকেল (Dalbergia) বা ঘণ কাক্ষিক মুন্ডক ( Trifolium ) ,একক ( Lathyrus এর কয়েক প্রজাতি ) ।
Flower: Medianly zygomorphic , bisexual , hypogynous or perigynous, pentamerous.
পুষ্প একপ্রতিসম, উভলিঙ্গ, হাইপগাইনাস বা পেরিগাইনাস, ৫ এর গুণিতক।
Calyx: Sepals 5 , irregular, connate,valvate or imbricate, odd sepal is usually anterior.
বৃতিতে সেপাল ৫ টি , অসম, কোনেট, ভ্যালভেট বা ইম্ব্রিকেট , বিজোড়টি একক ও নিকটবর্তী ।
Corolla: Petals 5, descending -imbricate / papilionaceous ; posterior is odd , the outermost & often the largest --the standard ; two lateral petals auriculated or clawed ---wings or aloe ; the anterior pair connate slightly to form boat shaped --keel or carina.In Amorpha wings and keel are absent and apetalous in some species of Lespedeza .
দল ৫ টি, প্রজাপতিসম ; দূরবর্তী দলটি একক, সর্ববহিস্থ, সর্ববৃহৎ --standard; পার্শীয় দুইটি দলফলক বিশিষ্ট---wing বা aloe ; নিকটবর্তী দুইটি সামান্য জোড়া লেগে নৌকাবৎ ---keel বা carina ।Amorphaএ wing ও keel নেই আবার Lespedeza তে দলমন্ডল নেই।
Androcecium:Samens(9)+1 ,the filaments of 9 stamens united to enclose the ovary & 10th posterior is free or rarely 9 (e.g. Abrus , Dalbergia) , usually diadelphous or rarely monadelphous (Crotalaria but in C. palida monadelphous).
স্টেমেন (৯)+১, ৯ টি ফিলামেন্ট একত্রিত হয়ে গর্ভাশয়কে ঢেকে রাখে, ১০ম টি মুক্ত ও দূরবর্তী , কদাচিত ৯(Abrus , Dalbergia), সাধারণত দ্বিগুচ্ছ বা কখনো একগুচ্ছ (Crotalaria তবে C.palida এ দ্বিগুচ্ছ ।
Gynoecium : Monocarpellary, ovary superior, unilocular,marginal placentation ; style simple;stigma capitate or terminal.
স্ত্রী-স্তবক: একগর্ভপত্রী , অধিগর্ভ,একপ্রকোষ্ঠী , অমরাবিন্যাস মার্জিনাল ; স্টাইল সরল;স্টিগমা ক্যাপিটেট বা প্রান্তীয় ।
Fruit: Legume or pod.
ফল : ল্যাগিউম বা পড জাতীয়।
Floral formula of Papilionaceae :

Diagnostic characters of Apocynaceae:
(i)Plants often have milky latex.
(ii) Leaves exstipulate.
(iii)Corolla funnel shaped or salver shaped , corona at the throat.
(iv) Stamens 5 ,epipetalous , inserted on the corolla tube , anther saggitate.
(v)Two distint carpels at base, ovary free & connate at style & stigma or entitely connate , stigma dumb-bell shaped .
(vi)Fruit- a pair of follicles.
(i) উদ্ভিদ সাদা তরুক্ষীর বিশিষ্ট ।
(ii)পাতা: অনুপপত্রী।
(iii) দলনল ফানেল সদৃশ বা রঙ্গনাকার , নলমুখ রোমশ মুকুট বিশিষ্ট।
(iv)স্টেমেন ৫ ,দললগ্ন , দলনলের ভেতর অবস্থান,এনথার স্যাজিটেট ।
(v) দ্বিগর্ভপত্রী, গর্ভাশয় মুক্ত তবে স্টাইল ও স্টিগমা স্থানে যুক্ত , বা সম্পূর্ণ ভাবে যুক্ত, স্টিগমা ডমরু সদৃশ।
(vi) ফল এক জোড়া ফলিকল ।
